The Friends are delighted to exhibit artwork by New Milton based Solent Mind Men’s Group.
Dean Kelland (pictured), an artist is residence with Spudworks in Sway, worked with the men over a four week period.
Based on the Famous Five books by Enid Blyton, the project draws on themes of friendship, curiosity, teamwork, place and discovery, inviting participants to explore how shared creative journeys and personal connections to the New Forest can help people feel less isolated and more supported.
At the heart of the project is a series of mixed media collages produced by the participants. Working with paper, image, colour, texture and personal storytelling, they were invited to develop ideas shared within the group and translate them into visual form.
Originally exhibited in the library during the Arts Trail, the works can now be viewed in the waiting room until 20th October. Following this, Solent Mind intend to exhibit them at their offices in Southampton and other locations.
